On behalf of Dr. Yu Hsi and the entire Crane Summit team, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mrs. Elsa Lycias Joel, for her wonderful and inspiring poem written to uplift hearts of nations fighting against the global pandemic, and commemorate Taiwan's successful battle against the virus. Thank you!   SERVE HUMANITY IN UNITY   An evil knocked us backWe surrender to the shockGravely, many take the flakEek! we dare not mockAmidst shocking turn of eventsIn the playground of yesteryearswe observe in utter silenceThe thrill of bouncing back. Very many thoughts came backCan't be held in abeyanceUnflinching determination, right on trackSwiftly move ahead in complianceTo protect and to healThrough the valley of deathNothing too shameful to revealThen, I hold my breath. I see a distant landBattling the demon with vigourFor it's the 'Beautiful Island'A ripple, flap and flutterOf the red-white-blue on highThe brightest sun and starWe hear a battle cryAgainst the deadly at war. Lessons learnt the hard wayTo lead on and inspireEarnestly, resolutely and focussed everydayFormosa stands tall to bearThe weight of sullen darknessFight it, calm and braveAnd rise above all challengesPave new paths to save. The gem of Taiwan's EastHouses the lust for lifeCarpe diem, all nightmares easedYour abode, evades all strifeA full moon, a wishMay lanterns rule the darknessSpiritual synergy and prayers flourishFreedom from distress, we witness.     April 24, 2020                    Elsa Lycias Joel

Thiruvalluvar statue opening ceremony in Vandana Monastery

2019 - 12 - 12
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of the guests who attended the Thiruvalluvar Statue Opening Ceremony in Vandana Monastery. The 19th of October 2019 will surely be remembered as a great day in the history of the already close friendship between Taiwan and India. The event was a homage to great Tamil culture, but most importantly, a celebration of friendship beyond cultural and language borders. A very special thanks to Honorable Mr. Parivendar and Ambassador Sridharan Madhusudhanan for many precious words of wisdom enclosed in their speeches during the inauguration ceremony, which surely left many of the guests inspired and touched. Congratulations to the entire team of Taiwan Tamil Sangam for their hard work and bringing all of the guests safely to Taiwan and back. Finally, It all would not have happened without beloved Dr. V G Santhosam - great philanthropist, enthusiast of Tamil culture and head of International Tamil Sangam, who initiated the entire event by donating the Thiruvalluvar statue to Vandana Monastery. We shall never forget this generous gesture.  It was a huge step forward for the relations of Taiwan and Tamil Nadu. Full of inspiration and positive energy we are ready to take another. Thank you!   Thiruvalluvar Thiruvalluvar is an Indian Tamil poet and philosopher. His literary masterpiece, Thirukkural, completed around 2000 years ago, is considered a source of life wisdom and Tamil classical ethical guide. Thiruvalluvar's masterpiece is composed of 1,330 couplets, classified into 133 chapters with 10 couplets each. Thirukkural is known for its universality and non-denominationalism. It has been translated into many languages, including Chinese. The Chinese translation of Thirukkural has been published by famous Taiwanese poet Yu Hsi.  In 2010, former President of India Dr. Abdul Kalam was invited by Dr. Yu Hsi to attend the World Congress of Poets in Taiwan. In his speech, during the opening ceremony, he mentioned: "Thirukkural was written by great Indian philosopher Thiruvalluvar. Wisdom enclosed in it has a profound influence on our lives. Manifesto

How great the vault of heaven is in the beginning of the primordial universe.

Variable yet immobile at ease.

“Crane Summit” is our name,

The emblem of our thoughts.

“Universal Reality” is our spirit,

The everlasting universal Truth we abide by.

The truth of the universe vigorously rotates.

The Dharma wheel turns eternally without rest.

“Universal Reality” is ingenuity, practicality,

Like continuous verdant mountain peaks.

“Crane Summit” represents refinement, sublimity, amity and peace,

Like moon reflecting upon thousands of rivers, bright and brilliant.

The sturdy Horse journeys around the world,

Sprinting along with the wind, crossing over thousands of mountains in an instant.

Refinement ‡ to preserve the everlasting spring of Nature

Sublimity ‡ to elevate the quality of humankind’s noble sentiment

Amity ‡ to care for the universal community and search for blissfulness of humankind

Peace ‡ to pray for the cease of wars and warriors, to be at peace with this world we dwell in ever after

With the power of Zen, the river flows calmly and orderly.

All sounds resound knowingly.

With the power to be calm and still, the gushed water becomes limpid,

Sole awareness remains.

In memory of the eminent and venerable religious leader Master Chuan Ching,

On February 4th, 2004,

“Crane Summit 21st Century International Forum” is established

By the eastern poet and Buddhist monk Master Yu Garden Dao Yi.

Riding a superb and marvelous steed

That gallops a thousand miles

A white crane flies out at the midnight, shining with clouds of the starry sky.

In an instant, the whole golden steppe is covered with the moonlight.

It is an academic forum in the new century,

Dedicated to the international promotion of arts and culture,

It resolves the racial dilemma and generation gap,

Through the all-embracing art and cultural affairs,

Promoting the full integration of spiritual strength and quality.

Thus creating a rich, open, harmonious, mutually-respectful literature,

And art environment that resonate the Renaissance of new 21st Century.

There is a predestined binding force for everyone.

Zhuangzi’s dream, is not only a beautiful legend.

The creative prototype of the Crane Summit Supreme Honor Crown Medallion is a tiny leaf ‡

Looking at one tiny tinted leaf,

Croons the moderation of the nature, conveys spiritual nourishment of the humanity, Telling profound and moving life story,

And affluent spiritual life journey.

The freshness of New is like an innocent child,

The significant meaning of life like morning dew of spirit!

Like a tiny piece of tinted leaf, listening to the song of poetry ‡

The eternal life is completing its rejuvenating cycle.

Moving in accordance with the pace of the universe,

Serenely crooning a song of eternity:

The truth about how fallen leaves glide in the air yet remain still.

Our dreams appear to be unlimited and immeasurable,

Such as a self-metamorphosed butterfly

Doesn’t have to flit around with other butterfly.

The waves of the east coast overlooking the Pacific lucid and clear.

Looking at the gust of wind sweeping away fallen leaves.

The splendid rhyme of life will never cease.
